This Old House (1979)
S17E13 The Salem House - 13
Episode Overview
Our host shares updates from the recent Historical Commission meeting, revealing that a verdict on the carriageway issue will be reached in three weeks. The Guinees requested a delay after receiving revised drawings just a day prior to the meeting, wanting everyone, themselves included, to fully understand the new information. Despite the postponement, public comments were taken, with many opposing the carriageway. Meanwhile, the master carpenter starts constructing a trash shed for the Guinees to neatly store their cans and recycling. The crew reinforces the boys' bedroom floor with engineered lumber. Our host pays a visit to the Andrew-Safford house, a late-Federal style home from 1819 that has been renovated by a local charity for a designer showcase. Back at the Guinees' home, slow-expanding insulation foam is applied to the walls, the shed is completed, and the team discusses the benefits of two types of storm windows: one-piece interior versus another option.
