This Old House (1979)
S19E23 The San Francisco House - 4
Episode Overview
The episode begins with a stroll through the stunning Muir Woods, where the towering coast redwoods stand tall. Back at the house, general contractor Dan Plummer is tackling another bout of heavy rain. We watch as lightweight concrete is mixed and poured over the radiant floor tubing in the kitchen. Our host gets an update on the building's sprinkler system from Fred Benn, who even puts on a dramatic demonstration. In Oakland, we visit Peter Good's workshop, where he’s crafting new exterior doors for the church—a matching pair for the front and a Dutch door for the side. Meanwhile, Jay Fenton is busy installing a stainless steel flue above the new Rumford fireplace, as Dan and the team go over the new staircase, which features recycled old-growth Douglas fir joists for the treads and risers.
