This Old House (1979)
S21E09 The Billerica House - 9
Episode Overview
The local electric company is setting up power for a new pole discreetly placed along the Silva's property line. This approach is much more cost-effective than trenching under the road and allows for underground installation of electricity, cable, and phone lines, keeping unsightly overhead wires at bay. Inside, kitchen designer Phil Mossgraber collaborates with Sandra Silva on her kitchen wish list. Phil proposes removing a closet in the mudroom to add a service door to the dining room, which Sandy enthusiastically agrees to. Meanwhile, Richard Trethewey is with the head of the American Fire Sprinkler Association, taking the initial steps to design a sprinkler system for the home. Our host also visits Underwriters Laboratories to learn about their testing processes for fire safety materials. In the workshop, the master carpenter tests the machines by crafting a flat-panel cabinet door.
