S25E22 Collecting Water - The Bermuda House

Mar 04, 2004 Season 25 Episode 22 Documentary, Reality

Episode Overview

In this episode, master carpenter Norm Abram and host Kevin O'Connor delve into the depths of Bermuda, exploring the stunning Crystal Caves located 120 feet underground. Meanwhile, at Harbour View, project manager Alex DeCouto is busy supervising the preparation and pouring of the second floor deck for the new addition. Plumbing and heating expert Richard Trethewey meets with civil engineer Keith Claridge on a rooftop to learn how 95% of Bermudians source their drinking water through rainwater collected in roof catchments and cisterns, referred to as "tanks." They also explore a historic military fort converted into a catchment and visit a modern reverse osmosis facility that helps enhance the local water supply. Although two weeks of rain is beneficial for filling the tanks, it complicates construction timelines. Foreman John Richardson gives Norm and Kevin an update on the interior work that is still progressing despite the weather.
