Master Carpenter Norm Abram and host Kevin O'Connor head to Washington, D.C., to assist non-profit developer Mi Casa Inc. in transforming a derelict rowhouse from 1879. Their mission is to maintain economic diversity in gentrifying areas by offering refurbished homes to low-income families at affordable prices. Architect Genell Anderson proposes a design for a three-bedroom, two-bathroom residence, showcasing exposed brick, striking lighting, new windows, and modern features. With a budget of $200,000, general contractor Mahyar Mahvi aims to preserve as much of the original structure as possible, although Norm and Kevin recognize the extensive repairs needed due to fire damage.
