This Old House (1979)
S27E08 Cambridge | Real Stone, Flat Roof
Episode Overview
Host Kevin O'Connor begins at Formaggio Kitchen, an exceptional gourmet food shop featuring the first cheese-ripening cave installed in a retail store in the USA. Back at the project site, stone expert Jason Buechel is applying natural quartzite veneer to the landscape walls. Although it costs three dollars more per square foot than synthetic options, homeowner George Mabry values its genuine appearance. Designer Todd Tsiang explains how obscure glass, custom shoji screens, and low-E coatings will enhance privacy, reduce UV exposure, and cut energy costs. Meanwhile, contractor Tom Silva supervises the installation of the low slope EPDM roofing system. Kevin then meets with George and kitchen designer Amy Leonard to explore potential layouts for the new kitchen and wet bar.
