With their kitchens completely stripped down, aunt Chris Flynn and her niece Liz Bagley are making do in their upstairs unit, relying solely on a refrigerator and a hot plate. Kitchen designer Kathy Marshall presents two layout options for Liz's new kitchen in the downstairs apartment to Kevin and Liz. Meanwhile, master plumber Bill Kane introduces plumbing expert Richard Trethewey to an innovative pipe relining system designed to reinforce the aging cast iron sewer lateral with a durable resin pipe, preventing tree root issues. On the second floor, host Kevin O'Connor assists general contractor Tom Silva and master carpenter Norm Abram in installing a new carrying beam for an open layout. Master electrician Allen Gallant demonstrates how to run new wiring through the old walls using a fishing system and a flexible steel drill bit.
