This Old House (1979)
S29E11 Newton: Bringing Light Throughout
Episode Overview
The exterior painting of the house is making steady progress. General contractor Tom Silva demonstrates to host Kevin O’Connor how he’s covering the columns beneath the back porch with shingles. Meanwhile, preservation plasterer Rory Brennan teaches master carpenter Norm Abram a technique to salvage the original plaster in the billiards room using a modern adhesive, and he also replicates a vintage corner bead detail from the 1890s. Kevin meets with homeowner Madeline Krauss and her interior designer, Abbey Koplovitz, to explore their choices for lighting, paint, and decor. In Somerville, Massachusetts, Norm visits billiard restorer Steve Kelly to check on rare antique pool tables and the ongoing restoration of a particular table.
