This Old House (1979)
S30E13 Weston; Keeping it Green Outside
Episode Overview
The Favat family invites host Kevin O'Connor to explore Land's Sake Farm, a community-driven non-profit where they can find organic produce, flowers, and even timber for their home. Meanwhile, landscape contractor Roger Cook installs the final underground tanks essential for the rainwater harvesting and runoff management system mandated by the town. On the back porch, general contractor Tom Silva employs a modern hidden deck-fastening method to lay composite decking. Up above, Tom's brother Dick Silva is applying reclaimed galvanized metal to a wall, imparting a rustic, industrial aesthetic. Conservation commissioner Brian Donahue explains to Kevin how Weston collaborates with Land's Sake Farm to sustainably harvest timber from the town forest for the benefit of its residents.
