This Old House (1979)
S30E26 New York City; This Brownstone is Beautiful Once Again
Episode Overview
As the Brooklyn brownstone nears completion, master carpenter Norm Abram and host Kevin O'Connor arrive to a lively scene, with sod and furniture being delivered. In the backyard, landscape contractor Roger Cook supervises the sod installation, while local builder Michael Streaman finishes adding spindles to the main staircase. Norm travels to Mount Laurel, New Jersey, to observe the craftsmanship of turnings created using both CNC lathes and traditional chiseling. Design correspondent Carole Freehauf presents the stylish rental apartment on the top floor, featuring a minimalist palette that highlights the woodwork and an impressive kitchen blending period charm with modern conveniences. Homeowner Karen Shen proudly shows Norm the finished master bedroom, now accessible via a vintage spiral staircase from the owner's unit.
