This Old House (1979)
S30E04 Weston; Prefabricating Inside and Out
Episode Overview
In this episode, host Kevin O'Connor visits Bensonwood in New Hampshire, where 75 percent of a new prefabricated house is constructed off-site. General contractor Tom Silva teams up with builder Tedd Benson to observe the crew as they assemble both interior and exterior wall systems. Meanwhile, in the timberframe shop, job captain Mark Roentsch guides master carpenter Norm Abram through the assembly of salvaged Douglas fir and live oak beams intended for the dining area. Inside the workshop, master electrician Allen Gallant collaborates with the team to implement a modern plug-and-play wiring system, while security contractor Greg Smizer installs chases for alarm and data cabling. Once the project reaches Weston, the focus will shift to connecting the wiring and passing inspections.
