Episode Overview
Master carpenter Norm Abram arrives to assist site supervisor Angel Leon, who is tackling the challenge of recreating the arch details from the living room throughout various openings in the house. Meanwhile, outside, stucco expert Alfonso Garcia demonstrates the initial stages of the new addition's stucco system, starting with the scratch coat, followed by the brown coat, with the final layers to be applied once the base is set. Across the lake, host Kevin O'Connor meets local director Sarah Lorenzen to explore architect Richard Neutra's VDL Studio and uncover its significance to the community and California's modern architectural landscape. Back at the house, insulation contractor Pat McKinley introduces Norm to a unique batt insulation made from 30% recycled glass and free from formaldehyde.
