Laura, in a tough spot, seeks to secure an apartment on her own but ends up having to take in Ram, an immigrant from Calcutta. Tragically, when Ram passes away, with some of the blame falling on her, Laura discovers that she has inherited a whole clan of spectral Hindus as her new roommates.
