Theo is tasked with writing a report on the March on Washington, but ends up with a disappointing grade and is required to revise his work. To his astonishment, he discovers that his family's stories provide deeper insights about the march than any textbook. Simultaneously, Vanessa grapples with her nerves about inviting a boy to the upcoming turn-around dance. Earle Hyman plays Russell, Clarice Taylor portrays Anna, Joe Williams is cast as Al Hanks, and Ethel Ayler takes on the role of Carrie Hanks.
