Episode Overview
When Chief and Nell are unable to take Joey to the rodeo, Grandpa steps in to take him instead. Unfortunately, on that day, it rains, and Grandpa falls seriously ill with pneumonia. At the hospital, the family is eager to see him, but the nurse informs Nell that Joey is too young to visit. Undeterred, Nell sneaks Joey into Grandpa's room. Joey pulls out a tape recorder and starts singing "Swanee." Just as their spirits begin to fade, Nell reminds Grandpa that he’s lost his fighting spirit, and if he doesn’t recover, she’ll have to tell Poland he "bit the sausage." Grandpa stirs awake, assuring her she could never do that, and playfully comments on Joey's misspelling of Dixie. The family is thrilled to see Grandpa's feisty spirit returning as he teases a nurse who enters the room.
