While the Palmers are apart, Doug and Carrie decide to catch a movie with Kelly, leaving Deacon in charge of the kids. At the cinema, Carrie bumps into a colleague who appears to have a crush on Kelly. They eventually go out on a date, and when Deacon learns about this, he feels motivated to reconcile with her.
