Dee Dee hosts a Christmas gathering at her parents' home, but a sudden heatwave leads to a power outage that threatens the festive dinner. Meanwhile, Spencer turns down Mona's invitation, feeling frustrated as the holiday stirs up unresolved feelings about his estranged father. Mona later suggests helping him find his dad. Phyllis arrives with her new boyfriend, a Santa she met at a children's hospital, but both she and Charles are uncomfortable with his overly affectionate behavior. Dee Dee receives a surprising call from Neil, who she thinks wants to reconcile, only to reveal his engagement. Determined to win him back, Dee Dee tries to leverage the heat, while Mona encourages her to let go.
