Referred to as "The Terror of the Gulf," the location of Jean Lafitte's treasure continues to elude discovery. His stronghold was in the swamps and bayous, which are also believed to be where he concealed his riches. Despite numerous treasure hunters scouring the area, very little of Lafitte's fortune has been uncovered.
