Episode Overview

Mr. Brewster is reluctant to marry, yet everyone in the county is aware that Cousin Pearl is eager for him to propose. Jed devises a scheme to help Pearl gracefully decline by suggesting that Mr. Brewster makes his proposal in front of an audience. However, Jed doesn’t anticipate Mr. Brewster’s theatrical flair, which turns the event into a grand spectacle. Mr. Brewster's dramatic performance is so compelling that, despite Pearl's insistence on rejecting him, she eventually finds herself saying yes.
