Episode Overview

Frank finds himself out of a firefighting job once more, having repeatedly failed to catch the fire engine in time. Feeling down and labeling himself a failure, he takes Betty’s advice and seeks help from a psychiatrist. During their session, Frank recalls his first encounter with Betty at a riding school, where he ended up in a pond after being thrown from his horse. Their first official date was a disaster too; he got stuck in a bowling alley’s machinery and later attempted a clumsy entry with Betty by damaging his front door. Betty’s mother also had a rough start with Frank, mistaking him for a repairman and ending up with a ruined cooker and a tumble down her stairs, dragging the carpet and banisters along. After hearing these unfortunate tales, the psychiatrist concludes that Frank is indeed a failure and feels unable to assist him. Feeling defeated, Frank leaves the session disheartened.
