On Senior Ditch Day, Joey eagerly joins Jen for a trip to New York, believing they are attending a college meeting. However, she soon discovers that Jen's true purpose is to confront her father, whom she hasn't spoken to since leaving Capeside. Jen opens up about witnessing her father with another woman before her departure. Meanwhile, Dawson and Gretchen embark on a spontaneous road trip, but their adventure quickly spirals into chaos when they find themselves stranded with a flat tire. Back in Capeside, Pacey and Drue, the only seniors left at school, decide to seek excitement by hitting a bar, leaving Pacey questioning his future.
