Dawson steps into his first day at film school, where he reunites with Oliver, an overzealous filmmaker from the festival. Oliver quickly pressures Dawson into directing a script he wrote. Initially hesitant to take on someone else's vision, Dawson offers script feedback and, encouraged by Jen, ultimately agrees to direct. Meanwhile, Jen’s newfound happiness from her relationship with Dawson is affecting her on-air persona, forcing her to revert to her former sharp-tongued style instead of her usual romantic advice. Simultaneously, Elliot finally musters the courage to ask Joey out, but she fabricates an excuse to avoid him, leading to an unexpected kiss with professor Wilder. Meanwhile, Jack faces criticism from his brothers for being placed on academic probation.
