Louis greets Leopold, the defeated Emperor of the Holy Empire, at Versailles. Meanwhile, Philip, fresh from his victory in the war, is assigned the responsibility of choosing prisoners to send off to the colonies. However, a masked prisoner among them piques his curiosity and raises doubts in his mind.
