The Vietnam War (2015)
S01E02 The TV War
Episode Overview
Following a period of early success with Operation Thunder, the U.S. engaged in three years of B52 bombings, along with the use of napalm and Agent Orange. However, in 1968, the Vietcong launched the Tet Offensive, shifting the momentum of the conflict. This marked the onset of the televised war, bringing anti-war protests, the assassinations of Martin Luther King Jr. and Robert Kennedy, and the My Lai massacre into the living rooms of Americans. As the brutal realities of war unfolded on nightly news broadcasts, over half a million U.S. troops were sent to Vietnam.
