Episode Overview

Deed is tasked with making a ruling in a case involving a young boy and his parents. Jason Powell, represented by Jo Mills, suffers from heart disease, and doctors say a transplant is his only chance at survival. However, he adamantly refuses the procedure. His parents, Mel and Andy, seek a court decision to override Jason’s wishes, arguing for the necessity of the surgery. Deed ultimately decides to lift the injunction supporting Jason, but tragically, the boy dies during the operation, having spent his final moments begging the surgeons to respect his choice. Meanwhile, Deed faces turmoil of his own, as both he and Jo are implicated in a serious misconduct scandal after she stays overnight in his chambers.
