Episode Overview
In Deed's court, his daughter Charlie serves as junior counsel for Henry Free, an animal rights activist accused of murder following a fire-bombing at an animal research facility that tragically took the life of a distinguished scientist. When Henry has a falling out with his main counsel, he turns to Charlie for support, but Deed warns her against taking the case. A key part of Free's defense involves claiming that his group was infiltrated by an MI5 agent acting as a provocateur, leading to tension when Charlie discloses the officer's identity during the trial, infuriating Deed. Meanwhile, Jo is there to support Charlie, who has rekindled her romance with Marc Thompson, leaving Deed feeling abandoned.
