Judge John Deed (2001)
S05E04 Silent Killer
Episode Overview
In the courtroom, Deed finds himself presiding over a case brought by a couple challenging their local council regarding a police communications mast installed on their building's rooftop. Gilly Bridges suffers from motor-neurone disease, while her husband Jake battles stomach cancer, both of which they assert are linked to the 'tetra' mast. The prevalence of these illnesses among the residents of their block is alarmingly high. Jo steps in to represent the Bridges, whereas Deed’s ex-wife George defends the council. Amidst this, Deed receives a plea from Rose Hussein, the English wife of a former Iraqi government minister. Rose contends that depleted uranium used in British Army tank shells led to her family's deaths and seeks the court's help to uncover the truth. Unsurprisingly, the government opposes the case being brought to trial.
