Gimme a Break! (1981)

Episode Overview

Valerie, Katie's friend, arrives at the Kanisky home heavily pregnant and on the verge of giving birth. She confides in Katie that she and her boyfriend Jonathan have split after a heated argument and that she has nowhere else to turn. The family welcomes her, but the Chief is less than supportive once he learns about her pregnancy and breakup. When Jonathan comes to check on Valerie, the Chief insists they marry before the baby arrives, and he reluctantly agrees. The couple argues about the marriage until Jonathan professes his love and proposes to both Valerie and the baby. As Valerie goes into labor, she decides to wait for the wedding, prompting Julie to rush out and find a local priest for a quick ceremony. Just after they say their vows, Valerie gives birth right in front of the Kanisky house, just as the ambulance pulls up.
