Gimme a Break! (1981)

Episode Overview

While running an errand at the local drug store, the chief unexpectedly finds himself in the middle of a robbery. When the thief aims his gun at him, the chief reacts in self-defense and shoots the man. Shockingly, he later learns that the robber has died, leaving him shaken, as he has never taken a life before. Contemplating retirement from the police force, he is ultimately persuaded by Nell to return to work. She helps him see that he is actually a competent officer, reigniting his confidence in his abilities.
