Episode Overview

While Nell is attending her cousin's funeral, Simpson bursts into the house with alarming news: the Chief has been shot but is okay. The Chief, furious, reveals that Simpson accidentally shot him while demonstrating his gun skills to another officer. As he demonstrates the moves to the family, he accidentally fires again, this time shattering the fish tank and killing Gertrude, the goldfish. Meanwhile, it's revealed that the Chief has an assassin targeting him, and Simpson takes to the news to claim he saved the Chief's life. Samantha becomes increasingly troubled by the loss of loved ones and starts questioning God about why people are taken away. Eventually, her Grandpa advises her to savor life and not dwell on death. When Nell returns, Samantha recounts the chaotic events, leaving Nell in disbelief at Simpson's blunder.
