Rebellious teen Billy Clanton attempts to flirt with Lisa Carew, leading to a confrontation with her father, who has arranged for Lisa to marry Johnny Coster. Frustrated by her father's control and the close-knit Cornish society surrounding Johnny, Lisa decides to flee her home and seeks refuge with Clay, hoping for a fresh start.
