Hal is restless as their 20th wedding anniversary approaches, prompting him to seek gift suggestions from Reese. In a twist, Reese suggests he could manipulate Hal's emotions while he’s on edge. Meanwhile, Dewey’s friends are unexpectedly thrust into a student body election after a bully nominates them. Malcolm decides to learn the electric guitar, despite Lois's skepticism about his talent. He manages to compose a touching song, but when he performs it, Dewey realizes it’s set to the melody of the "Meow Mix" jingle!
