Back in his hometown, he discovers a facility still conducting experiments on kaijins, where Bilgenia is waiting for him. Meanwhile, Aoi and her mother find themselves captured. As Kotaro attempts to save them, he is confronted by a formidable "Mantis." During their confrontation, he uncovers disturbing truths that intensify his fury towards Bilgenia, awakening new abilities within the Black Sun.
