Dwayne receives the honor of being inducted into Phi Beta Kappa, prompting his mother to visit for the ceremony. Meanwhile, Julian confides in Whitley that he has something significant to propose during their upcoming lunch, leading her to believe he will pop the question. Instead, he invites her to join him for the summer in Washington, D.C., offering her a secretarial position at his firm. When Whitley expresses her desire to attend summer school and pursue an internship, Julian accuses her of being overly sheltered. Seeking guidance, Whitley mistakenly assumes Mrs. Wayne is a maid while visiting Dwayne’s apartment.
