Episode Overview
Freddie forms a connection with Alex, an eight-year-old in foster care who visits the community center. She feels a deep sadness after witnessing an adoption fair where potential parents overlook Alex for younger children. Professor Randolph advocates for foster kids, but Freddie challenges him, pointing out his own preference for adopting a baby. Feeling rejected, Alex flees the adoption event and finds solace at Ron and Dwayne's place. Whitley attempts to connect with him to impress Dwayne. Eventually, Walter arrives to take Alex back, but Whitley and Freddie try to keep him hidden. Mr. Gaines, Walter, and Col. Taylor express interest in adoption but are advised to reflect on it further. In the end, Professor Randolph and his wife decide to pursue adopting Alex, acknowledging Freddie's valid concerns despite her bluntness.
