A Different World (1987)

Episode Overview

Dwayne agrees to tutor Lena for free, hoping to help her improve her calculus grade. As they work together, they discover a shared passion for basketball and develop a friendship. Whitley, however, is convinced that Lena has feelings for Dwayne. Initially skeptical, Dwayne changes his mind when he hears a message on his answering machine where Lena raps about her crush on him. He tries to distance himself, but soon worries that he might have been too harsh. Whitley surprisingly supports Lena, recognizing her loneliness and homesickness, and offers to be there for her. Meanwhile, Ron recruits Kim to help promote a line of beauty products targeted at African American women.
