The detectives work to gather evidence against a charming con artist who exploits lonely maids to win their trust and rob their affluent bosses. Flint feels uneasy about having used one maid's personal diary to track down the suspect. This maid is more resentful toward the police for invading her privacy than she is toward the con man who took advantage of her.
