Episode Overview

Mr. Howell stumbles upon a gold mine on the island and enlists Gilligan to help him work it. As excitement over the discovery spreads among the castaways, Mr. Howell's refusal to share the wealth leads them to demand outrageous prices for the essentials he requires. Meanwhile, the professor manages to fix the life raft from the Minnow, and the group eagerly climbs aboard, dreaming of escaping to civilization. However, the extra weight of the gold they secretly bring along sinks the raft, once again thwarting their chances of rescue!
