Maya's cousin Ronnie feels slighted when she chooses to hire an agent. Frustrated that she overlooks his contribution to her achievements, he insists on taking ten percent of her $25,000 book advance. Joan experiences an uncomfortable encounter with William and Monica at the café, mistakenly thinking that William is inviting Monica to Maya's birthday celebration. In an attempt to get back at him, she decides to bring along a dull shoe salesman as her date. Meanwhile, Toni struggles with persistent morning sickness.
