Episode Overview

Murdoch, an aging cowboy played by Franchot Tone, arrives in Medicine Bow on foot with his young grandson, Willie, portrayed by Billy Mumy. The Virginian is displeased when Trampas, feeling sympathy for Murdoch, offers him a position at Shiloh. However, Murdoch struggles with the job, leading to a series of mishaps that fuel his jealousy of his grandson's admiration for the skilled cowboy, Trampas. Ultimately, Murdoch finds a way to showcase his true abilities, earning respect and admiration from everyone, including Willie.
