On August 7, 2020, Air India Express Flight 1344 tragically veered off the runway at Kozhikode International Airport during adverse weather conditions, crashing into a gorge. Of the 190 passengers and crew members aboard, 21 lost their lives. The captain proceeded with an unstable landing approach and touched down too far along the runway, leading to the disaster.
