The New Yankee Workshop (1989)
S16E08 The Windsor Chair (2)
Episode Overview
In the second part of the Windsor chair project, Norm tackles the intricate Lancaster County "Fan Back" design, a true test of woodworking skill in the 16th season. He visits master chair makers Bill and Sally Wallick in Wrightsville, Pennsylvania, where Bill guides him through the process of carving the seat, turning the legs, and fitting the steam-bent maple "crest" rail, as well as attaching the elegant yet sturdy spindles. Sally then demonstrates her technique for aging the new chairs, creating an authentic patina that can deceive even the most discerning experts.
