Greg and Jen bring in Allie, a private chef, for a Valentine's Day dinner, but the night doesn’t turn out to be as romantic as they envisioned. Meanwhile, Matt and Colleen face challenges while trying to adopt a dog from Ruth, a rather critical animal advocate. At the same time, John and Joan are on a quest to purchase a classic car from the discerning dealership owner, Gavin. Additionally, Sophia receives a necklace from a boy for Valentine's Day, which leaves Heather and Tim feeling less than thrilled.
