Episode Overview

In October 1906, Mary, the recently hired housemaid, opens up to Richard about her pregnancy, which stems from a violent encounter with a man who assaulted her while intoxicated. Determined that he must take responsibility, she discloses that the assailant is Myles Radford, the son of Richard's friend, General Radford, her former employer. Furious at Richard for daring to challenge his honor, Myles retaliates with a crude action that threatens to unleash significant legal, financial, and ethical consequences.
