Episode Overview

Alec's old friend Emmett comes back to Avonlea, bringing along his new wife and a baby. Struggling with a failing farm, Emmett turns to Alec for assistance, hoping to catch fish for the winter. However, their fishing trip takes a tragic turn when their ship goes down, resulting in Emmett's death. Burdened by guilt, Alec takes on the responsibility of managing both his own farm and Emmett's. Meanwhile, Evelyn, the grieving widow, stirs up tension between Alec and Janet, prompting the townsfolk to buzz with rumors.
