In "Close to You," H.R.G. enlists Matt's assistance to confront Samuel, using Matt's estranged love, Vanessa, as bait. However, Samuel has his own intentions regarding Vanessa. Meanwhile, Hiro and Ando embark on a desperate mission to rescue Dr. Suresh. In a separate storyline, Peter introduces Emma to his mother, triggering ominous visions of a bleak future for them all.
