Mary Jane Hastings, a successful business executive, returns to Hooterville to accept an award from the Chamber of Commerce. Her commanding presence captivates the town, leaving everyone eager to please her. However, Kate is unsettled by the influence Mary Jane has on her daughters and blames her assistant, Steve, for catering to Mary Jane's every whim. When Kate confronts Steve about his submissive behavior, he decides to stand up to Mary Jane, only to be fired. Discovering that Mary Jane has feelings for Steve, Kate devises a plan to reunite the two.
