Episode Overview

As Betty Jo's delivery date approaches, excitement fills the valley for the arrival of a new baby, to be brought into the world by Doc Stuart. However, Steve surprises everyone by insisting on a distant, upscale hospital for the birth. While Betty Jo prefers to remain in Hooterville, she understands that Steve's intentions are rooted in care. The community perceives her choice to leave as a betrayal and decides to give the couple the cold shoulder. After witnessing Doc Stuart's skill firsthand, Steve begins to rethink his decision. Meanwhile, Wendell Gibbs, the new engineer for the Cannonball, hopes to earn the nickname "Cannonball" from the townsfolk.
