Casey Brooks, a well-regarded parole officer, finds himself under scrutiny as the main suspect in the murder of a Vietnam veteran. Nick Knight is convinced he has met Brooks before and delves into his memories of Vietnam, uncovering Brooks' real identity and a troubling secret that threatens to destroy his professional life. However, the investigation takes an unexpected turn when Nick's key suspect is almost killed, shifting the focus of the case entirely.
