S06E24 Clinic on 18th Street
Episode Overview
Title: Clinic on 18th Street Plot: Malloy and Reed delve into the mysterious death of an elderly man sporting an odd belt, which prompts a transfer of the case to the Frauds Division. Their investigation uncovers Dr. Gantman, who operates a clinic where he is ineffectively treating a blind child with a pituitary gland disorder, hindering the necessary surgical intervention. Subsequently, a television repairman who crafts oscillator belts for Gantman is apprehended for illegal gambling and agrees to testify against the doctor. In a courtroom demonstration, Gantman’s treatment is publicly exposed as a failure. Note: Although Reed and Malloy only make brief appearances, this episode was initially envisioned as the pilot for a new series centered on the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office, directed by Webb himself, but the series was never produced.
